Amazon vendor "Exotic Plants"
Has anyone every purchased orchid seed from the Amazon vendor "Exotic Plants"? I know that plenty of vendors on Amazon and Ebay sell fake orchid seed, but this vendor seems like they may be selling the real thing. They have many species listed. I can't tell much from their reviews. Anyone have experience with them?

I think that's why I get so angry when I see those fake blue orchids at the store. Those things can throw me into a rage. I've warned several people to NEVER buy a blue orchid from the store, because if it every blooms for them again it will be a cheap white NoID orchid.
What angers me about those is that they are grown and potted up and given care instructions that ensures they will not survive to another blooming cycle.

If you're looking for something in particular I would search some of the vendors that people use on here. I've ordered from Phelps and liked them a lot. I've also ordered from Hauserman's and liked them. I'm sure I've ordered from several more, but can't remember. Check out the "Vendor Feedback" section of the forum for vendor suggestions and opinions.

They also seem to only sell seeds. Orchids are very difficult to grow from seeds. If you want very young plants go with a vendor that sells flasks and de-flask the plants yourself.
Everything about this Amazon vendor has my hackles up.

Wow, I didn't see that. I was looking for orchid species, and they have plenty listed, with photos corresponding to each species. I guess all credibility goes out the window when they're trying to sell something like that!!!

Amanda L, I realize that orchids are difficult to grow from seed. But I'd like to give it a shot. I just finished building a glove box, which I believe is pretty close to air tight. I've got some mother flasks made up as well. I have some orchid seed which I purchased from a reliable vendor, but I was looking for other sources so that I can expand the variety of species I can work with.

Ask. I recently disposed of two nice ripe pods that were on a Masdevallia herradurae when it arrived. Put up an ad in the classifieds here. Maybe offer to split any potential seedlings with the donor.

I have bought several times from exotic plants. Several different kinds of orchid seeds.
I have mixed experiences, on the good side they have arrived on time and in good condition (that is something to note considering Mexican postal service). On the bad side, a couple of species were fake (monkey orchid seed).
As for the fact that the real orchid seeds they sent are from the species they say they are, remains to be seen as they are still in plates for asymbiotic germination. On another note, although the exoticplants.de domain is german, the seeds i have received were sent from bulgaria.
It is a big gamble to buy seeds from vendors because there is no warranty that they are going to germinate as there is no info about how the seeds have been harvested, stored, etc. I believe that if you want to give it a shot to seed germination you might have a better chance of success getting seeds from people around this forum.
I have bought seeds from a vendor on the bay called kumpol from thailand. The seeds i have received looked in better condition and also he puts the info of the month and year when they were harvested and the packet contains more seeds. In particular Dendrobium signatum i have already germinated (it was a gift from him). It germinated in about 2 weeks after plating.
If it helps, i have also bought a couple of times from vendors from china on the bay, both fake so beware of them.
Good luck.

I realized that you were looking specifically seeds after I posted my rant. LOL
I would still check out the Vendor Feedback section and see if any of the recommended ones offer seeds

Do the import laws include seeds? I don't know much about custom laws, but I thought the laws regarding plants were because of insects and parasites that could potentially do damage to native species. Without proper paperwork won't they destroy the plants and/or seeds?

Bet your life that importation of seeds is regulated. Yes they will destroy the stuff, but it doesn't end there. There are absolutely criminal penalties for illegally importing plant material, including seeds.
