If the protocorms are too big to rinse out of the bottle they are past the protocorm stage and are seedlings. I prefer replating when the protocorms are very small to get better distribution and easier transfer. Venting is not necessary for the mother, but is critical for the later stages.
Jello? It's protein. I would think that would give you some problems! Agar and cornstarch are starches and supply little nutrient in themselves. Orchid seed need carbohydrates.
The type of sugar is very important. Sarcanthiae ofter react very negatively to much dextrose. Most like sucrose (ordinary table sugar). That's safe.
