New Side Growths on Vanda--What is this?

My vanda has grown two new side growths. They have been growing on the plant for a few years and now are as large as the original central growth. They do NOT have roots. I had hoped they would send out roots as keikis, but no roots ever came out. The plant has not been growing well or flowering since the side growths.
I feel that the side roots are sapping the strength of the central plant and cut one off.
I have been growing orchids for 25 years and have never seen anything like this.
Can anyone explain or advise what to do?

My first inclination is to suggest more sunlight. Mine get dappled sunlight all day with a few hours of direct light.

Second idea is more water, and third would be more fertilizer.

With over 25 years experience, that is much more than I have growing orchids. However, I think that the more green tissue a plant has, the more it can photosynthesise, so actually the side growths would contribute to the overall health of the plant. I have vandas that do produce side shoots, I haven't noted them to be detrimental to the health of the plant, and have just left them be.

That plant needs more water and more light.

I agree with leaving keikis in place; eventually they will set some roots.
