Seeds won't green

Hi guys just wanted to ask for opinions. I had sown some Cattleya seeds that just won't green. The flasks with medium have been sterilized, seeds washed in diluted 3% peroxide solution, then left in high light, no contamination. Its been almost two month since flasking, and the seeds are still just floating around in there no germination.
Do you think there is still a chance? Or all hope is gone? The only two things I can think of is, the pod was set a side for some time after it had browned and cracked open, as I was preparing to flask. Is it possible that the seed had gone bad? It sat aside for say a month.
The other is, I feel like I've sucked up a too much water with the seed. Can that affect the germination?
Also what are the best conditions for germination (temp, light)?
