Hi Kiki,

this is what I mean with "black node": and nope, it does not look good

and this is what is happening with all other nodes (even the same spike as the black node: whether keikis or new branches.. time will say

and this is my Aerangis citrata while taking the picture I found that there are not 3 but 5 "things" growing there and that all within 12 days!!! (I hope I kcan keep my drool face long and the plant the doesn't start doing weird things because of the keikiPro)

I too have used keiki pro. I have had great results with it. Sometimes it takes a while to get results, other times I see immediate results. I have mostly used it as a spray, but I have used just the drops. I used just the drops on some new roots on a paph to see what would happen and the new roots turned black and didn't grow. A couple of month's later, I now have three new fans starting to slowly grow. I wonder if the 'chid is putting all of its energy into growing and that is why I have not seen it re-flower this year yet, although when I bought it last March late in the month it was in flower so I still have some hope!

I talked with them at WOC and they told me that they would be happy if some photos were sent to them on the results you have with you plants. I used it pure (1 drop) on Phal stuartiana about 4 weeks ago on a spike about 1/2 inch tall. It is now 8 inches tall and has 4 branches starting at the second node. Used it on Sedirea japonica (2 drops per ounce water) and new growth has started. So far I happen to very much like the results.

Hi all,

I am pleased to see this discussion going along. I hope I can help with any questions or concerns you are having. The main thing to keep in mind with KeikiPro or any other hormone product is timing............timing, timing, timing. Can't stress that enough. It will not do all things all the time or all things at just "anytime". The principal to keep in mind is that KeikiPro will accentuate whatever you SEE occuring. The formulation itself has been on the market commercially for many years, but has only been approved for retail sale to hobbyist's since 2007. There have been no long term or problematic issues with it at all. Remember the class of hormones in KeikiPro already exist in all plants. We are simply giving them a "boost" if you will, at certain times to break the dormancy of tissues that can be active, but simply are not. I hope all this helps!

Wow, Ramon, That shot of the Aerangis is incredible. Now for the question that pops into my head.....will that create an overworking of the plant to have that many new spikes? If that is not the normal or usual amount of spikes that would have come through naturally, could the boosting be overloading them? kiki

Thanks Gands,
So, if growth is already there and we "see" it occuring, that is the only time/place we spray? I thought it was to stimulate growth where it has not been actively producing flower spikes, but where you "see" new leafs or roots happening.
Hmmm, am I making too much of this? I just don't want to hurt any of my chids.
Doesn't take much to confuse me, you know..... kiki

Hi Kiki,

Let me clarify just a touch more, or maybe just say it a different way. You can spray / dab it on your plants once per growth cycle. Now that 'growth' cycle may not mean just vegetative growth. If you want more roots....treat when you see roots starting. If you want keikis.....treat when you see new leaf growth. If you want spikes.....treat when you see spiking begin....etc. Those treatments can be at different times of the year for different plants, or different times of the year even on the same plant.

Hi Kiki, time will say... currently I am just paying a lot of attention to this plant. I mentionned it all happened at the same time as I moved it to S/H, and the plant was not the happiest of all (even though it looks quite healthy)

Thanks gands, your clarification of the use of this product is much appreciated. Now if I could win the lottery so I could get some!

Hi Al,

It's really not all that expensive if you look at what else is out there. It will cost anywhere from 25.00 - 30.00 for a 1/2oz jar of keiki paste. KeikiPro is 24.99 for the same amount, and when mixed with water it will make 1 1/8 gallons of usable solution, so a little goes a long way. It also has an indefinite shelf life in the concentrate form. You only use it at 2 drops per ounce of water, so a 15ml bottle will treat a lot of plants. And frankly it works better. JMHO
