Green Seed Pod Flasking - Phalaenopsis Female
Default Update

On 8/9/14 I flasked the green pod, its approaching two weeks since then and I just thought I'd post a quick update. No growth of any kinda in any of the flasks yet. They have turned a little greyer since I scraped it out of the seed pod.

This is part of the seed fluff that was scraped out of the green pod.

More fluff:

Nothing green is growing in any of them yet. It is very difficult to get the camera to focus on the inside of the flask! I apologize for blurry pics.

It seems to me a bit too early to turn green in 2 weeks. I would wait 4 to 6 weeks but turning into grey should not be the righ modification, I think. Let us wait a bit more... and good luck.
Kind regards,

1 Month update (8/9/14 flasked green pod). They look the same. No growth and no contamination in all 9 flasks.

I'm hoping to see some growth by 2 months. The green pod was supposed to be harvested at 6 months of age and I harvested it at 4 months of age, so I'm not sure if it will continuing growing in the flask or not.

5 week update (8/9/14 flasked green pod): I don't want to jump the gun and get too excited over nothing but I think maybe something has germinated in the flasks!

There are tiny green specs in 4 out of 8 of the jars so far. They are just tiny, no bigger than a pin point. They are also found on the green clumps of pod stuffing that I scraped into the flasks, and not actually on top of the agar media.

Tiny green spec in the middle on the grey cluster:

Another angle of the same flask:

Three green specs in this flask!

It's very difficult to see, but there is a small green dot on that main grey clump in this flask:

What do you guys think?

I think you might have 3 plants on the way at least. I'm glad this wasn't a total bust for you.

Thank you everyone. More green specs are starting to show up in the other flasks (1 or 2 specs per flask) in 7 out of the 9 flasks so far. I really like green pod flasking too because I have 0% contamination after 5 weeks so far.

8/9/14 I flasked the green pod so time for a 7 week update. I am so happy to say, lots of germination! 7 out of the 8 flasks have little green dots in them. They continue to get bigger each day. And I still have 0% contamination

Click on the yellow thing that says "This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image." and you will be able to see the protocorms more clearly. =)

Thanks for all the support, advice, and help along the way.
SUCCESS!!
