Do you flask your own or send them out?
I send them out - OrchidOrigins. Can highly recommend.
I tried once using a home kit. Was a disaster, so decided never again.

Update. I repotted into individual pots; each seedling, even the tiniest, has an extensive root system. I might mount one or 2 provided I can find a suitable mount - I have seen plastic "cages" as mounts but are only available in Taiwan. The parents are enormous plants - only realised how big when I saw an equestris alba that had about a hundred blooms but was 1/3 the size of my 'riverbend' cultivar. Leaf span of the largest couple of seedlings is 5-6 inches already.

Wow, those are big seedlings! They look great. Was this your own cross?

Keep up the good growing, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers.

They have really progressed well. It will be pretty neat to see the flowers on these.

yes, its a cross with a harlequin phal. I am hoping for a pink/white/red multifloral phal....the negative trait mentioned below is precisely the influence I am hoping for ! BTW - the tetraploid ('riverbend'=4N ) influence is reflected partly in the size of the plant, its enormous. I will post a photo when it blooms. It's currently in low spike.

I found this in a presentation given by Dr John Martin in 1996 - but unfortunately cannot find a photo of the phal he mentions:
"Phal. Berries 'n Cream shows typical equestris 'Riverbend' patterning with large whites and pinks without marked variation. One negative trait passed on by equestris 'Riverbend' is spots of white, devoid of color, at the tips of the midriffs of the petals.
"Riverbend' was the clone that revolutionized phalaenopsis equestris breeding. It is a proven tetraploid, larger, heavier, than the diploids, and it has superior coloration. It has proven itself in breeding with many awarded progeny. "

there is a cross called Hiroshima Fantasy made with Golden Peoker - a famous harlequin - and 'riverbend'. Pictures of the blooms are on OrchidWiz, not on the web.........and imo are spectacular. If I can get something similar I will be very happy

I found a photo - page 4

( its a lot different to the OrchidWiz photos )
