I raised a Morm x Cyc cross and raised them like every other flask I had grown out. It took about five years from flask to about half of them blooming. The balance should bloom this season.
I use sphag/tree fern for all flasks, hardened them off in about a week while introducing them to Catt light. They lived for three years in compots before I put them into individual pots. I did not let them go dormant while in compot. Once into individual pots, I let them go dormant the next winter.
When I deal with seedlings, they don't know what they are supposed to do, they just want to grow. If you force them into dormancy when they are young, they might be too weak to return in the spring.
I used the same logic with the Morm x Cyc cross I used when I used to grow other plants from seed and they all did fine for a couple of years without dormancy.
This is the kind of advice I love hearing. Thanks so much! I decided to just go ahead and purchase them, so I'll be keeping the board updated on their progress I'm sure.
