Thanks, I have mine outside on the front porch they get early morning sun till about 10 am then its all shaded till about 7:30 pm when it gets evening sun.

That sounds like it is perfect for them. In my current apartment, the morning sun is all shaded by a bid tree so I don't get any of that through my front window. Its one of the reasons why I will be moving when my lease is up lol.

My back is all shaded also so I had to use the front porch for now till fall when the tree losses all the leaves then I can put them in the back room.

That last picture is my birthday gift to myself its just like the other two green houses but its a lot larger. It will go out back when we are finished with a area my son is working with. He took down a old shed.

Update on the seedlings. I just can't seem to let them be. :P

My big shelf arrived yesterday that is wide enough to accodomate my 4 foot long, 6bulb T5HO lighting fixture. After I set it up, I got all the orchids set up on it.


Since I had all this empty space, I started re potted some of my larger orchid seedlings into individual pots.




I was so surprised at how well they were doing when I uncovered their roots and took them out of the sphagnum. I potted them individually into a mix of 50% sphagnum and 50% bark.





They look really happy now and I feel much better about their progress after having looked at all of the bigger ones and potted them up individually.

I only have six remaining Lahina Gold’s, but all six seem to be doing great.

Thanks! These have been a lot of fun. My co-worker sent me some pictures of her seedlings today. Her's look great as well.

She is growing most of hers outside in her shaded porch area and has them potted individually.

They really look very good. Both yours and the girls from works you can really see how much they have grown since they were deflasked.

Hi how are the rest of yours doing since you lost most of the really tiny baby ones that were sent? Are they others recovering some?

Here is my news update for my first batch of orchids. The wind took the tray and blew it off the ledge where I was watering my orchids the other morning. They all went to the ground and it was a big mess.

Now no orchids have labels and I can not tell which orchid is what till now after they bloom. I just wanted to cry but sucked it up and picked up the mess and replanted my orchids once again.

I lost 3 orchids which broke as they fell. They others were ok and survived the fall. This was the tray with all 8 of the original list of orchids I had planted. Now they are marked dropped. Till they bloom and I can tell which orchid is what then.

I'm so sorry to hear this!! On the bright side, it will be fun to see what blooms and then you can re-label them (that's just a long ways away!)

It took everything I had in me not to cry in front of Erica. She was sitting on the front porch watching me. Her eyes got big as saucers and she looked at me I couldn't cuss or cry in front of her but boy I sure wanted to.
