Spotted Cattleyas Male
Default Spotted Cattleyas

According to my resident Cattleya expert, crossing a spoted Cattleya with a non-spotted Cattleya leads to all non-spotted offspring.

If one was to self such a non-spotted plant, or cross two plants of similar parentages, would spots reappear in the next generation?

This is how vigor is introduced into alba Paphs, but I don't know whether Cattleya spotted genetics work in similar fashion.

A good question. I bet Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids would have an opinion or some knowledge about this. He breeds a lot of spotted Cattleyas.
