Zygolum Louisendorf Cross

Deflasked today.
Easy to split up because of good, solid root system. However something strange - I think - see photo. A couple of the seedlings had an extended root system, almost as if another plant was stuck to them. In fact I broke one of these "extensions" off before realising that it was part of the seedling and plenty of others had the same thing.
Anyone know what this is ? See photo.

I stuck a couple of the larger ones in a compot
