nope, it/they are definitely not a smaller sibling. I know because I tried to separate them and that didn't work. I then got a magnifying light and could see on the others that it was part of the seedling. I had earlier separated zygopetalum triste seedlings, a lot of which were tiny so I know the difference.
Here are a further 2 photos which illustrate better. In the first photo the main growth has browned and a side shoot with roots has grown. There are also healthy roots out the other end !

these took a LOT longer than my phals. It must be typical to zygopetalum as Z triste was similar...
