Hold the container under water and the broken glass will sink to the bottom while you hold onto the top. The clump of leaves will be easy to retrieve without encountering any broken glass.
I want to be first in line for a compot.

Wrap the side of the jar with packing tape. Then hit with a sharp tap with a hammer on the bottom side of the flask.
