Just looked up pics of both parents, and I see what you mean. I like the faint speckling on it. It reminds me a bit of a Noid I have, though on that one the yellow is deeper and the speckling a bit more prononced.

Do you have any other babies in spike or is this the only precocious youngster?

there is one other with a spike that seems to have stalled. Unfortunately nothing yet on any of the others with the attractive leaf patterning and colouring. I am thinking about how to expose a couple to a lower temp at night, just have to work out the logistics.....and hassle. They are all definitely at blooming size, with great root development.

That's an interesting flower, I do imagine the pale yellow is probably sweet in real time. Perhaps try taking a picture in indirect sunlight without flash. I think that way we could experience the shim-shimmery!! Congrats.

Good job. I'm going to say it is very lovely. I know how taking a picture at least for me never does them justice. So I think in person this one is very pretty.

Hmm I happened across this little fella last month... It was quite sparkly even as it was sort of tucked behind others in the display.

I had a surprise - 'freckles' is spiking. It wasn't part of the temperature experiment where I am putting batches of 5-7 plants in a colder environment to prompt spiking. 'Freckles' did its own thing without any interference. That said I have noticed that it's getting some filtered sun from the West, now that the sun's angle has changed. Maybe there are a few independent factors that can initiate spiking in the home? That shelf is the only one on my stand that gets sun and only has 'freckles' and much smaller seedlings.
As this one is so different from its siblings, it will be very interesting to see if the blooms are in any way different too.

Why are the leaves so dark? Is it your photo or is it the cross?
