Doing this cross is going to be a bit tricky, even if it is viable. Wiganiae is a winter bloomer (spike is just starting to show buds now) while I-Hsin Salmon is a summer bloomer, and it's last 2 blooms are now open. If they last until the other one blooms, they may be too old by then.
I'm surprised that there is no info out there about the link between foliage and flower. I would assume it to be important information for commercial breeders/nurseries, who would probably exploit any known genetic linkages in their breeding strategies. Think I'm going to go on a hunt for information on google scholar...

I hope you find something. I have asked on various forums and also done some research online to no avail. The issue boils down to being able to select seedlings at an early age that would display desirable traits - especially important when you have space constraints. Anecdotally somebody mentioned that his smallest seedling/the runt turned out to have the best blooms !
Ironically I have seen wide divergence in blooms in a seedling population where they all look the same - in terms of foliage, shape etc.

Seeing your other thread on your equestris Riverbend cross seedlings led me to wonder how these seedlings were doing. Everbody still growing fine since the last update?

The great news is that I have a seedling spiking ! I don't know how I got it to spike as its the only one so far - with all grown in the same conditions - but better one than none...

Wow, that's great news!!! This cross sure is quick to spike (About 18 months out of flask according to the thread dates?). Bet you are excited to see what the blooms will look like. (And so am I actually)

Wow, congratulations! That's so exciting. Happy growing little spike.
I've got a Phal that sits next to its two keikis I potted up. One of them bloomed at the end of the summer. Now the other one is in bud as is the mother. Obviously being next to each other means they're experiencing the same conditions. I guess every orchid is an individual.
