Question Seed pod on paphiopedilum

Paphiopedilum unnexpectedly developed what looks like a seed pod.
I am seeking advice as to when to harvest and what to look for and how to ship.
I think I found a flasking service, although I am not sure they are still in business.
So if any of you have some advice or stories to tell, it would be great to hear it as I want give this pod a try and hope for new plants sometimes in the future. I understand I need to be patient.
It would be challenging to grow this seed pod. it comes from decent parentage,
i am attaching a picture of the plant with seed pod.
Any advice would be welcomed!

Paphiopedilum seed pods known in the trade as greenpods but botanically they are called seed capsules.

They ripen for 8-12 months on the pod before harvesting or just before they split open and burst all over the place.
On the 9th month you can send them to be flasked....

just to be safe: on the 8th month cover it with plastic just in case it burst open early you have the seeds inside the bag

Smile 8-12 months for seed capsule to ripen!

That is great to hear. I will leave this seed pod alone for at least 8 months. Does the seed capsule grow during the "ripening"?
What is the optimum conditon for ripening?
Thank you for the invaluable advice.

I don't think you have a viable seed pod. If it is under 8 months old, it should be green. Yours looks like a dead flower and will eventually drop off.
Did you pollinate it yourself ? Paphs will not spontaneously self-pollinate.
I posted photos of a viable pod under Paph Lowii on OB.
I hope I am wrong.........but will need more info, especially the age of the "pod" and whether you pollinated the bloom.

edit ....see photo above. Flowers were pollinated on 2/21/13
