OrchidWiz says that these take 170-200 days for green pod harvesting, so there's a long time yet.
To me they look like they are about to burst already.

Oops missed this. Still doing good and progressing. I cut one of them off a few weeks ago to stick with 4 (I thick) pods. I cut inside and there was lots of seed forming, so got my hopes up a little more now haha

Empty pod.....seed emptied freely. Similar to finely ground mustard, colour too..

the second pod went yellow on 2/2/12. Its in for propagation.
The third pod is still green.
I think its interesting that there is this "delay" - common sense indicates that the plant is spacing out pod maturity to give the subsequent seeds a better chance at germination ? All the flowers were fertilised at the same time.

Drew - since you have so many pods, it will be interesting to see if your plant behaves in the same way......or maybe its gonna carpet bomb the surrounding environment !

I had 5 zygo pods that sort of behaved in this manner. 2 opened and shed seed and then 3 about a week later.

Sorry I missed your post! Just like yours mine have had delays as well. I had 5 pods, one went yellow first, then about 2 days later two went yellow, then a day or 2 later one more went yellow, and as of today one is still green.

those look an odd colour ?
Have you plans for so many seeds like repopulate the Amazon ?

My 3rd one went yellow on Feb 7 and I just top-sprinkled the seed around another orchid grown in sphag.


was just thinking that yours are really early. Did the pods dehisce/burst ? I hope they are OK. Your 3rd one is going for the 100 day mark - which mine were at and past. The guy who does my flasking said there was seed and he mother flasked.
And I don't know why I thought you were in Aberdeen, Scotland !

I thought they were really dark too so I cut one open and lots of little seeds. Did yours never get that dark?

haha yes tons of seed. Im sending all the pods except the one I cut open off to other people to have fun with.

My plan is to take the one I kept and spread it all around in some pots and mounts and see what happens. Can't do any harm!
