Solid or liquid media for tetraploid conversion
Default Solid or liquid media for tetraploid conversion

I'm looking to produce some tetraploids using oryzalin (as Surflan) and I'm wondering if anyone has 1st hand experience using solid media vs liquid media for the oryzalin treatment. I've come across Miguel & Leonhardt's Scientia Horticulturae paper where they used a liquid media. I've also come across a listserv post by Bob Hamilton where he mentions using a solid media for the conversion. The solid media would be more convenient for me to use but without any empirical evidence in the post to back it I was wondering if anyone has tried using solid media for producing tetraploids and if so what was the conversion rate like?

Well for Phals, I know its recommended that you use a liquid media for about a week for conversion (with colchicine). As to how good the coversion is, that's tough to answer, as not many people count chromosomes to actually tell you if they converted. I feel liquid is best as you want to really coat them in the transforming agent.
