Default orchids in the use of other mosses

Hi,
I wonder, Is there another type of moss that uses outside of the sphagnum from you, in orchids ?

Such as, Hypnales, Dicranidae, Timmia austriaca ect.

Is it the successful use?

And what is the disadvantage of mosses of different genera , ph, rapid deterioration, putrefaction ect. ?

thank you.

Hi, I've only really heard of sphagnum being used for growing orchids.

I do have a live native moss growing on the top of some of the pots, but it's sphagnum inside the pots.

Living Tillandsia is sometimes used around hanging/mounted orchids, but I think this is more to keep in humidity rather than to grow them in.

I know some other types of moss are sometimes used, tho I don't know which. I do have a mounted Den (came mounted), and the moss on the mount is not sphag, but I don't know what it is.

I use a local variety of sphag with my orchids. It works perfectly, because it stays moist as long as necessary but also dries out well during the humid and cold winter months.

Thank you to everyone

You are right, sphag. are often used for orc. so natural ion exchange, acid character, late decay of the properties.

But I was wondering the actual, says that some orc. growers, ;According to the results of analysis,
other moss species have nutrient rich, I do not have a data, unfortunately.
I do not understand, Even if it's true, others moss to decays faster than sphag.
therefore,
Does it make sense to use the others moss instead of sphag.?

Well we can add fertilizer for nutrients. Decaying media is not good for your orchids.
