I agree with Nguyen..WOW! I bet you can flask in your sleep. A sterile room is not going to happen for me. The best I will get is the laminar flow cabinet. I also probably will do only 20 to 30 flasks/replates a year. If I do not vent the jars, then I can take the foil off and spray them well with bleach. (I have been using the bandaid over a hole in the lid method and didn't want to get the bandaid wet.) I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Is it possible for you to modify your profile and add your email address? I can then contact you that way. The other idea would be if someone out there could help with the picture upload.
Hi Jean Pierre...I have resized your pictures and I hope they come through ok. I was having trouble with some of them and I don't know why. There also is a limit of 10 to upload. You should be proud of what you have acomplished. It looks like you have put a lot of thought into this operation. Sure could use some of those tomatoes.
You did a nice job! I dont know how to resize jpegs. In fact there are two things I hate much - 1. Paint works and 2. photography. Thanks for uploading the pics. If you need some more info that I can help please just ask.
Btw, breeding tomatoes is a lot quicker than breeding
orchids, but the end result is the same... once in many
thousands the progeny comes out with marked
enhancement over the parents.
Hi Jean,
I love your pictures especially lettuce, preparation room, and picture of your son holding tomatoes. You sowing tomatoes using seeds or tissue culture?
Nguyen
Great job guys. I hope I can do this flasking thing. But I now feel like Fred Flintstone. I'm going to try this for the first time by beating the snot out of a dinosaur with a big wooden club. At least that is how I feel about my technology.
Thank you for jumping in. Good to hear that you are going to try flasking. Tell me about what you have assembled and how you are going to do the flasking. I am always looking for more info. When I started this thread, I hoped to make a low cost laminar flow cabinet. To that end I have ordered some parts and have a plan in mind. The cost will be about $400, more than I first thought. The next step will be assembly and testing followed by learning more about media and technique. I think a lot of the fun is in doing the research and putting it all together. Look forward to hearing from you.
John,
Like I said. I am going to beat the snot out of a dinosaur with a big wooden club and wham! Flasking.
I have been studying techniques myself. I will not have a hood or a sterile room. I will probably be working in a box with rubber gloves duct taped to the holes. And a big wooden club. Just in case of dinosaurs.
