Hi, after several years of home flasking, the non comercial formula that works best for me in epiphytics is tomato and banana with 50ml of pinneapple juice, germination rates are good. For reflasking I use the sameone without pineapple and plus charcoal, and when the seedlings have roots I use a medium made of fertilizer, really cheap and efficient. I used many comertial medias Western labs, Caisson, Phytotech, Sigma... There are good and bad things in all them, but I still think tomato and banana formula it's perfect in most cases.

Oh yeah.. I totally forgot that OSP sold media too. I've even ordered media from them in the past. I guess I didn't think anything of it because I hadn't heard back from Aaron Hicks about the seedlist the last time I ordered from Phytotech.
Thanks for the reminder I'll have to look into that.
Monstera - did you use agar with your mixture as well? and if so how much did you use?

Responding to emails in a timely manner doesn't seem to be one of Aaron's strong points, unless you happen to catch him in a period when he's not so busy....

Any suggestions on what lights would be best to grow the flasks under? I have a cabinet that I will be using that is all white inside that's 22.5 inches inside.

It depends how much you want to spend. Cheaply, a mix of warm and cool white T8s should do the job.

The most cost efficient method looks like using CFL's mounted in plastic sockets. The cost is less than $8 a light and for such a small space I think it will be sufficient.

In case it's not obvious, this is "distilled water".

Jajaja, Dicus, you are right, I didn't realise...
In my experience, the advantage o this formula is that is cheap, availabe and protocorms live longer on it without reflasking that in some comertial formulas
