How exciting. I did a deflasking 7/26 and babies are still alive. I used Bedford Orchids deflasking techinque of sphag/moss in a bag that is left open. So far so good. Hope to see some pics of the nursery soon

My experience with B. cucullata

Brassavola cucullata - compotting from flask

I have heard mixed responses about providing high humidity after deflasking.

Just an update:
It's been 10 days out of deflask so far...and although I tried to keep them in 100% humidity for a few days, they soon started to mold, so I just took the lid off. They seem to be doing fine...I'll try to get a photo for you guys, but I warn ya, it won't be purty!

I had the same problem with P. Mariae babies so I took the bigger plants and potted them up alone in 1 1/2" pots so far so good. I still have one little compot for the smaller ones. I have them open to air now. It's been 21 days for mine.

Hey John-

They're alive and kickin'! I've lost 1 or 2 of the tiniest ones, but otherwise, they're growing like weeds...I'll take a pix and post it in a few...
