Okay, so a little while ago I posted pics of my Phal.
cornu-cervi var. flava that I had received in rough shape. It had a spike with a bud, so I decided to leave it on so I could see the flower. Yesterday, seeing that it had not decided to grow new buds in o month or so, I decided it was time to get rid of the spike so it could focus on growing. It was just after I had removed the branched spike that I remembered reading somewhere about taking phal spikes, laying them in sphag, and hoping the dormant nodes grow a kiekie. Well, I did just that, but I added a special concoction of Wilson's Liquid Root Simulator, Super Thrive, and water, which I applied to the exposed nodes with a paintbrush. This was all on August 12th. SOO, if there is any growth, I will make sure to update this thread.
Here is the whole spike in a small container with sphag and a cotton ball at the end for that added extra bit of moisture.
A closer view with the three nodes circled.
A view of the lower one, which is the one that I think might have grown an itty bitty bit.
And the top two.
If this succeeds, I will most likely sell two, and keep one just in case the parent bites the dust.
