Angraecum Distichum Division by Offsets?
OK ive been told that you can propagate Angraecum Distichum by cutting of pieces of it is this true? if it is then how do i do it? i have had a plant for 3 years now and its grown considerably! its got one new growth coming up from the medium and several offshoots from the main two Growths! it blooms regularly. i would like to round the plant out, if you would like pics i can post them for you. Its also been in the same small maybe 1 inch pot its been in since i got it which is July 2008. do you think it needs repotting too? its growing in small to fine bark.
Thanks guy for you help!!!!

Pics, Pics, Pics. Gonna need them to answer the potting question, though I've never seen one not mounted. Dont know about the divisions though, but I wouldn't see why you couldn't.

I don't think I would divide it. I grow mine in Leca pellets, in a terrarium. It forms small side branches (I have only had it for about a year) and it is currently forming new buds. It is my understanding that this species does not like its roots to be disturbed too often, so I doubt the side shoots will be easy to root. You have a nice plant there, that seems very happy with you!

Thanks! and Good point!
yah its been a really care free plant! it grows all year! and its got quite a few side growths now its really just an awesome plant. When i got it, it only had the one main growth the really long one
it smells good too! you really have to get your nose on it to smell it though. Most likely i will not do this but i was just curious if anyone else heard about this or has tried it?

Actually, it should be pretty easy to take a branch or section of stem as a cutting on this one and get it to root. Take a piece at least 2 - 3 inches long, not too small. I'd root it in a sphag-and-bag set up, damp sphagnum moss in a clear plastic bag to maintain high humidity and even moisture - live sphagnum if you can get it.
After 2+ years in old media I think yours would benefit from repotting. It does tend to be a rather linear grower, not something that 'rounds out' until it is a huge plant. As mentioned, this is very commonly seen mounted rather than potted.
