P668 is a good starting point.

"Best" really depends on the type of plant and your personal preference. Kind of like asking what's the best recipie for cookies or a martini - you'll get a bunch of different answers.

Order from the Orchid Seedbank Project. They sell a good variety and don't carry a bunch of stuff that you don't need. Most they carry already have the agar included and are in one liter packages for about 6 bucks. Other lab supply companies will gouge you for shipping.

Choosing one is tough, and confusing. That's why you should get two. Look on the OSP site in the technical data tab for a blurb on selecting media for defferent genera. If you get two very different formulas, almost anything you sow will come up on at least one of them.

For you...

Dens can be done with P668.

The next question would be banana or coconut water additives?

Either one is good.

Try banana powder.

With regard to RoyalOrchid's suggestion of buying media from OSP, form memory they sell Western Orchid Lab's media. I've had very good results using the Western formulations on a range of orchids.

I believe they actually discontinued their relationship with Western's....

Australia apparently was too finicky and fickle according to the note on the page!

Aw man! That seriously sucks!

Now it's going to not only be expensive but a royal pain in the buttocks to obtain should I need it again!

That's a pity. W2.5 and W3.0 are good all rounders and work well even on tricky species.

I don't believe anyone has actually mentioned that you get P668 from Phytotech labs. Home Page - PhytoTechnology

I buy all my supplies from there, but lately they have been out of what I need for months. Not sure what to think or do.

I do not propagate Dens, so I'll go back to lurking

Good luck. Lots of good advice here!
