Nope. As far as the RHS is concerned, each of them - no matter which side of the reciprocal cross, either - would be considered to be the same hybrid. It would (will?) be interesting to see what impact the mitochondrial DNA has.

I think haranopsis flows off the tongue easier than does phalaella.

A couple of additional comments: I would not open the capsules to determine whether they're fertile or not. Instead, the moment the end starts to show any sign of yellowing, I'd recommend sending it to the lab as green capsules and spending the minimal amount (probably $15 each) to get them mother-flasked. I believe this is such a rare opportunity at an unusual hybrid that avoiding the risk of potential contamination is worth it. Heck, offer me a share of the seedlings and I'll even pay it!

As to the parthenogenesis issue, I think it's more of a case of gene dominance than anything else. I have several zygo intergenerics that look nothing like "mom". For example, here's a shot of of zygo x promonaea cross, Propetalum Mathina:

Very cool, Tindo! If it does take, at least you can count on small plants!

Thank you Ray. I really don't want to send the seeds off to an unknown lab. If you have the means and experience to do this, I will happily send them over to you and share the wealth. All I ask is for a small percentage of the seedlings and the right to name it. I want to leave my mark ya know. Anyway, I'm counting my eggs before they've hatched here. Thanks for the input. I will try to send the pod off before it bursts. The last time I had one the pod burst faster than anticipated and I got contamination.
How about Haraelopsis?

Sorry, no knowledge or time here.

I have been quite successful with Critter Creek Labs, and would recommend them.

Well, here is a sad update. The developing seed pod on the Phalaenopsis mother plant has aborted. The seed pod fell off over the weekend. Now all hopes remain on the Haraella mother plant seed pod. Keep your fingers crossed, for the next few months.

Hang in there, Tindo.
I'm rooting for the Haraella and it's little pod!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but won't this project suck the life out of poor ole Haraella?
