potted up six phal kiekis today

Its been awhile since I've posted,but here are the babies from two phals that grew kiekis.


At this point, I was sweating bullets These three were really intertwined, making it difficult to seperate. Hubby [bless his heart] gave me a hand, sterilizing the razer blades, and making a couple cuts. All three had three two inch [at least] healthy roots, so I think they will be fine. Sorry for the long winded post I'm just soo thrilled with these little guys

Tropic girl,

on Oct 8th 2009, I put kieki grow plus on the nodes. these little guys are six months old. [also I have six more, with no roots] hopefully, with time , they will grow some

Aaawwww! Chidlove, these are SOOOO adorable! Congratulations!!!! I am brand new to the board (signed up this morning), because my Phal has a keiki (sp?) on it's spike and I'm not sure how to handle it. If I remove it, I need to sterilize everything first, correct? And how close should I cut to the keiki if I choose to remove it? And should I remove the stem entirely from the main plant (I never removed it after the last time it flowered)? Ok, lots of questions!!! LOLOLOL If you need a picture of it, just let me know! Thank you all for any assistance you can provide!

I put some of that 'keiki grow plus' on my wallet, but haven't seen any growth yet!

I too am curious. I have a beautiful keiki on a phal that I'm waiting to remove. Did you remove it entirely from the bloom spike, or did you cut a piece of the spike away with the keiki?

Good Morning,
Welcome to the board Moreau, I'm a relative newbie [a few months.
As for removing keikis, I lucked out with the first one. It came off the spike with a gentle twist. Then I checked it frantically for any root breakage The next two [in the jumbled mess] my dh cut off, after putting a lighter flame to the razor blade. [sterilizing it] He did this [the cutting] right where the plant met the spike. I've read that some people take part of the spike, both sides of the keiki. I'm certainly no expert, being my first time with all this [soo exciting!] Either way would be fine, as long as the baby had sufficient roots.
Please, please post pics of your babys Love to see them.
On a side note, I've ordered the 'keiki Root' from the same place, as the other six babes, aren't doing anything in the root department Good luck on your projects
