I thought about that.
The root parentage (I guess you call it) of Den Pinky Sem x Kanjana Blue goes back to:
Den biggibum Lindley
Den schroederianum
Den superbiens (believe renamed anosmum)
These all seem to be warm to hot growers and Phal type EXCEPT for the anosmum which is a pendulous cane orchid that grows in a very similar style to the victoria reginae. And the anosmum is found in the Philippines too.
Now of course that is several generations back so genetic-wise, I'm not sure how much of that is compatible. I haven't completed all the research back on every cross yet up to the Kanjana Blue.
I am hoping to get a pendulous dark purple that is more of an intermediate grower as my temps here are not ideal for the victoria reginae.
I also realize that it is probably not the most ideal cross, but I am not planning on going into business. I want to see what comes out of it. If it is nice...I'll go from there. If it is a complete disaster, I'll probably throw them out. I wouldn't want to add anything crappy since there are so many nice ones out there.
Now it is just a waiting game.
