Question Light requirement for seeds to germinate

Hi all

There is a lot of information about light requirements for
seeds, protocorms and plantlets. But much of it are quite
contradictory... some sources say germinate in the dark and some others say 24hrs bright light.

Any one with good insight and experience please help.

Thanks.

Ciao Jean Pierre
you're a very luky man because I must try to grow them under artificial light and it's very difficult for me to understand which kind of light to use, for how many hours, etc.
This is my germinating box:

the flasks are under a flourescent tube (10.000°k) for 12 hours a day and the temperature is fixed at 25° C.
I use 2 differen media brought by OSP (W 2,5 and P669).
Actually I'm able to let my seeds to germinate but when I see the protocorms going green after few week they become of creamy colour and the growing stop.
I'm not able to understand where is the error (maybe because the flasks are hermetic and there's no oxigen interchange?).
What you believe it happens?

Ciao

Massimo,

At the stage when protocorms start greening, size 2-3mm
I replate tthe protocorms on fresh media and space them
about 10mm apart.
