Excellent!

I have done lab work over boiling water and in plastic clean areas, but finally getting a hood made all the difference in the world. It removed so many degrees of frustration and headache.

Good luck! What kind of orchids do you work with?

Hi Ben

I work with pretty much any species that takes my interest. I am very interested in using the Australian Sarcochilus, Phalaenopsis Lowii, other Phals and various Vandaceous to do some intergenerics in the future. Currently I am doing a lot of work with SE Asian Habenarias. I am not sure though when I will flask those as they need 4 months in the dark before they germinate and I hope to move back to Australia mid next year. So I dont know if they will be fast enough to be large enough to travel well. I am going to focus on fast growing species from the seed that I currently have.

I also am playing with reflasking and doing some meristeming to. I have a Phaius callosus and flasked two small keiki shoots off it into some meristem media yesterday. I hope that works.

Hi Olivia..

I will place emphasis on looks professional and say I have a lot to learn. I really want to learn cloning, but that is going to be a long process I am guessing.

I bought it from a friend here in Bangkok who makes them. I have told him he needs to make a kit version for hobbyists. He has a smaller version of this that he sells for about AUD$400 (US$350) that I think would be great for most hobbyists. If he could make a version that can ship cheaply and easily, and for a similar price, I reckon he will have a lot of people interested.

I got this intermediate version as I will do more than a few flasks at a time.
