Default All ready to flask-- no seeds :(

I have all my stuff ready to begin flasking but have not received the seeds I've ordered. I just did 2 crosses on my blooms and hope to have pods in several months.

Does anyone have some seeds they would be willing to share so I can start playing. Nothing that's really precious because it's been years since the last time I did any flasking and I'm pretty rusty.

If any one is wiling to share some seed I will gladly pay postage for you to mail seeds to me and split seedlings if successful.

While I am very rusty on my sterile technique, I will be using autoclaves to sterilize all flasks, tools and media and all my flasking will be done in a professional laminar flow hood. Hopefully this will stack the odds in our favor. If anyone is willing to take a chance please let me know.

Thanks for considering this!

I ordered from the Orchid Seed Project. I got an e-mail that he received my order but haven't heard back re my e-mail asking about how to remit payment. I don't think he'll ship until I send payment but I couldn't get paypal to work on his site.

Since i haven't heard back, guess I'll just send a check directly to OSP.

Dont worry, you are not the only person to have problems getting seed from the OSP in a speedy fashion. Aarons is a nice guy, but even he admits you need to put a bomb under him some times to get him moving LOL...

I'd email again. As for Paypal. You can just send a payment to his email address. Check Paypal and you will see you can do it once you log in. I would wait though until you know he has all the seed you want.

I am currently waiting for him to reply to another order I have made (over US $150). I think the problem is he is short of staff.

What kind of species are you into? I may have some seed to share? I do have a number of terestrials and some epiphytes.

Brett

Right now I'm very interested in Cattleya alliance species and hybrids. I'm a geneticist so I'm fascinated by hybrids! I don't care about 'show potential' or anything else. I'm just fascinated by the genetics part

Are you located in Thailand? I used to visit there regularly when my folks lived in Bangkok and I loved going to the markets to buy orchids!

Hi Olivia

38 species in total. Half belong to a friend in Malaysia though. I am still waiting after 2 weeks later to hear back, but this is normal for non-charitable organisations. Short of staff and run of their feet. Having helped run one, they have my sympathy LOL...

I tried to contact the Australian Orchid Council seed bank in Australia, and have not even heard a word after 3 emails. Pretty slack there considering I was going to donate seed.. Aaron does answer, he is just busy.

Hi Bingo.

Sorry, I dont have any Catt alliance seed. I do currently have Pecteilis Sussanae, Arundina Graminifolia, Coelogyne Shilleriana, Dendrobium Unicum to spare.

Best regards

Brett

Brett i ordered some seed from the Aus seed bank and they sent them through, everything worked well... they even sent me an updated seed list in the mail.

But that was about a year to two ago, things might have changed, i know they were very busy.

Hi Undergrounder

I am not here to rubbish anyone. I just like to be kept informed as any customer does. I sometimes think customer service is a dying concept.

I have run helped several businesses and when I got an order, I responded by email to say it had been recieved and would be processed as soon as possible. One place even had an email auto-response.

I had contact with the AOC general email and they said I'd hear from the seed bank. two emails later, nothing. I'll stick with slack as I had seeds to offer that were not common in OZ. I also wanted some seed/protocorms.

Maybe I became humourless after working for DPI in OZ LOL... Gods I hated dealing with AQIS then too.

Hey.. I am hijacking a thread.. Sorry..

Can anyone swap some cattleya alliance seeds with Bingo? Bingo let me know if any of the seed I have interest you.

Brett

Bingo, I've got some to spare. I even started a thread asking if anyone wants seed. Send me a PM and we'll talk.

As for the OSP, please afford them as much patience as you can muster. It's a worthy cause and they normally process my orders pretty rapidly. Keep in mind that AJ is filling orders for seed as he's accepting seed donations, germinating rare plants to offer cheaply to the hobbyist, and running a lab supply outlet for all the home flaskers in North America. And this isn't even his "real" job.

You're not the first to report a delay, but my orders have always been filled immediately.
