I trimmed the smaller seed pods thinking it will allow more energy to rebound the shock of remounting it. The few I left on turned brown and dropped off. Oh well ;(
Anyhoos, I still have a few pods on the other two specimens I have and of course, they are already spoken for.
My question is... should I wait until they start to split? Or since they have been longer than what I've read what it takes for this species' pods to mature, to just go ahead and pick them?
I literally have only 6 pods from 50. And of all the plants I know of in the wild, none of the pods survived to mature so it just may be a bad season for this spec ies down here.
I'd wait until they start to split OR start to yellow along the "seams" or the "stem" of the pod. That way you'll know they are mature. Taking a guess on harvest time presents no real advantage, but does have potential negatives, like harvesting seed so immature that it's not viable.
I think removing most of those pods was the right thing to help this rescue make it. It'll live to produce pods again.
