No, the fume hood would draw unfiltered (contaminated) air across what you are working on. A laminar flow hood pushes submicron-filtered air across your work area to prevent contaminants from getting onto what you are working on.

Here are some inexpensive laminar flow air filtration units. They don't actually have the hood component, just the laminar flow setup, you would construct your own hood or even use it without a hood.
