Wish me luck, I just crossed polinated two Phals - SEED POD UPDATE
Hi all,
Just want to document the fact that I just crossed pollinated my Phal lobbii with my Phal Mini Mark. Is this cross registered by the way??

I wish you lots of luck, Tindo
Is this the one you tried last year or was that lobbii x parishii?
I looked these up in the RHS registry and didn't find a single registered grex for their crossing ..
You can try for yourself in case I mistyped - Royal Horticultural Society - Plants: The International Orchid Register
Looks like you may be able to name this one

Nope, not yet. I looked at all registered crosses using Phal. lobbii as either seed or pollen parent - nothing there. BUT, this cross may have been made, just not registered yet. Let me know if you have a little extra seed when the time comes.

I'm interested to see how that will turn out! I wonder though if you're going to get something radically new since your crossing Mini Mark to its grandpa. Which one is seed parent?

Thanks all. Lets hope pods develop. Thats the first hurdle, second hurdle, Im not exactly good at sowing seeds, a crying shame seeing as how I am into plant biology.
I have noticed that lots of known crosses have not been registered, named, etc... Is there a reason. Are only some crosses of worthy of being registered while others are not? Thanks.

I've wondered that too. I imagine that prolific hybridizers register only what they are proud of, or hoping/searching for. Some turn out "plain" or very similar to another exisiting cross, or just inherit undesirable traits. They might not want to pay the fee and fill out the paperwork on those.
Could be that the cross has been made, but they are waiting for flowers to photograph and include with the application. I thought you HAD to submit a photo, but evidently they'll accept an application without one. I guess they just prefer it.

Hopefully it will work, since P. lobbii is a grandparent to Mini Mark

Right now, they both are seed and pod parents.
