Sphag 'n' Bag Treatment Female
Default

I've been treating a phal for over a month using a damp paper towel and ziplock bag and have had continuing problems with mold/fungus. Now one of its two leaves is turning yellow and I think it's only a matter of time before it falls off. What can I do at this stage? The remaining roots (1 or 2 one-inch long) look pretty much the same as at the beginning of the process. Should I give it another root hormone treatment? I really don't want to give up! Thanks, everybody, for weighing in!

If you have, or can get, some Physan 20, spray the towels and plant heavily with this to get rid of the mold. I suspect the plant isn't getting the air (especially the roots) that it needs. Try opening the bag for 10-15 minutes each day (preferably in late afternoon) then reseal. Or try a "sort of seal" with a small air passage left. The whole idea here is to slow the transpiration and minimize wilting - not to create a super saturated environment where mold grows. Another shot of KLN might help, but shouldn't be necessary, in my opinion.
