Hi, just joined the forum. And I had a couple questions. 2 days ago I pollinated my Orchids and 2 of them have encased the pollen already. I was just wandering as to how long it takes for them to develop pods if indeed they do and how i do this flasking method. Also I have a growth off of an orchid i just bought and i was wandering what u guys thought as to removing and planting by itself. I am worried that it will cover the other one too much and not allow it to grow properly. I will attach a pic of the growth.
I don't know anything about orchid propogation so I can't help you there...but I am going to move this thread into the appropriate forum. I think you may get a better response
As for the basal keiki you have growing, I don't separate them. I have a number of Phals with multiple basal keiki growing.
Your plant has nice roots and a good side shoot. But I don't see the flower you pollinated.
If you successfully pollinated a Phal hybrid, (by this I mean it will not drop the developing seed pod before it's mature), it could essentially take you anywhere between 198 to 298 days before the seed pod matures.
Everything else I can't tell you, because I've never successfully grown orchids from seed.
But...
I can tell you it'll take you at least 5-6 years for your seedlings to flower.
This is a great site for collecting information on how to do flasking. It has to be done in a sterile environment and as you collect information you will see that there is a process to it. It is not difficult but there are steps to do it properly and getting the information together is the first step. Lots of folks here will be happy to answer your questions as you go along Good luck!
well i am excited to say as of now some of the flowers have taken the pollen. i know now it is just a waiting game! i will ask more when/ the seed pod does take place
