KeikiPro...How to use? - Orchid Board

Does anyone out there use this? I bought some yesterday, strictly for my Phals. Not interested in basal keikis but hopefully to produce some off the spikes. It says to use on inflorescence that have already bloomed so my next question is...has anyone used it before the blooms were spent? Is there a likelihood of greater success if used on the lowest nodes vs. higher nodes? And, does it make a difference if I put it on more than one node on the spike? Better or lesser odds if I use on several nodes? The instructions say to peel back the bract that covers the node but how much do I peel? Am I looking to slightly break the skin and reach fresh tissue?

At $22 for 1/2 oz., I hope to get this right, first try. I know there's no guarantee, I just don't want to be wasteful with this.

I remember reading in another thread not too long ago that someone applied paste to all the nodes, and got keikis on all of them!
As for peeling off the bract, just peel it off completely.Try not to damage the tissue underneath, as that is what you could call the axillary meristem and it's what will form the keiki.

Camille is right, peeling off the "cover" won't do any damage. The idea is to get the best possible exposure of the meristem to the KeiKei pro.

I use KeiKei pro and have had very good results with it. I use it for basal keikei's on my phal's and to get more growths on my catt's.

Sandy, I finally remembered that I promised you some pics! The first is the node with the bract still on. Then I took some tweezers and carefully peeled off the bract. I had to peel it off it parts. In the second pic you see a little green bump which either grows into a spike or keiki
