Default Dividing my Milt. Bert Fields 'Eileen'

A couple of weeks ago I divided my Miltoniopsis Bert Fields 'Eileen' into 3 separate pots. Since then each of them has had leaves turning yellow and dropping off. The medium I used was just the same type of regular (medium size) orchid bark mix that the original plant had been in. Should I have maybe used a more moisture retentive medium, such as sphagnum moss until the new roots become more well established? The plants are obviously in smaller pots now and do seem to be drying out pretty fast. Is this the problem or am I merely experiencing a normal reaction in this situation?

Any feedback on how this should be dealt with would be very much appreciated.

Hi Ray,

The milties LOVE there water and should be keep moist.
I suspect with using a medium size bark there drying out too fast. Adding to the bark with sphagum moss or even peatmoss would have been a good choice.

Try soaking you're milts for the next couple of waterings for up to 20 or 30 mins.
Within time you may find they take an awful lot of waterings in just plain bark. But try it and see how it works for you
