any way other than keikis to clone a phal?

I have a beautiful noid phal which I picked up a few months ago and is not long for this world. I've sphagged and bagged but I think it's too late.

There's no spike so it won't be producing a keiki. Is there any other way than keikis to clone a phal?

Meristem cloning is the only thing that comes to mind.

If the meristem on your plant is still alive, send the plant to a lab to get it done. It might be pricey.

What they do is they pretty much destroy the plant to get to the meristem ("heart"). They slice and dice, and grow the plant bits like they would germinate orchid seed.

Usually Phals are cloned from the dormant meristems on flower spikes to avoid ruining the plant. Any plant worth going through the effort of cloning would painful to "slice and dice".

Think about why you want to propagate this one. What would you call it if it's a NOID?, There are plenty of noids out there to play with. Some orchids are just destined for the compost heap. Start fresh with a healthy plant with a positive ID from a reputable grower.
