What Royal said is what I do. 10% chlorox for 10 min. This has less chance of killing the seed. I would open the pod and treat the seed you plan to sow, you can keep the rest for another attempt later if you want.
I don't quite get it..Use the normal strength 6% bleach to make a mixture of at a ratio of 1:10 (10% by volume). Dis u mean to use 10% of v/v of bleach? and for how long? 30 minutes should be enough right.
Bell Bella - Since you posted this thread and have gotten responses .. I am going to delete the one I made from your post in the other thread (the one I told you about in the PMs) .. no reason to have duplicate threads
Glad you got some answers

Did you read the thread "redneck orchid flasking" at the top of this forum? There are a couple of methods mentioned on how to sterilize the seed. I also tried petri dishes and have had too much contamination from the air exchange so I went back to jars. Good luck.
John
Royal have you used the petri dishes before? If you have how well did they work? I liked the concept and I still have a few that I made up about six months ago and didn't use for seeds and are not contaminated but overall the ones I used didn't work.
