Default Serapia cordigera seeds

Hello,

I was sterilizing this Serapia Cordigera seeds. It took me some time till the where not floating. It was all going well, after 10 minutes in solution 10% bleach (it still look fine), but then I cleaned them in water and then they floated again.

What did I do wrong? I over exposed them? Are they still usefull?

Thank you,

Olivia

(I have some more Separia cordigera seeds, I could change them for other orchid seeds, if anyone is interested)

waiting for them to sink is only to make sure the disinfectant gets into all the air pockets. after you take them out of the bleach, you can expect them to float again. they should be fine.

Hello, nothing by now,I know it's soon to know, but I think I left them to short in to the bleach solution. I will prepare some more seeds, leaving them till they come a little more pale, but not white.

if you didn't leave them in long enough, you would know by now. the bleach is only to kill any fungus and bacteria that might be on it. if there was any fungus or bacteria left, you would see it growing by now.

Hello Lambelkip, thnak you for your answer. No, there is nothing growing by now.

By the way, do you think that warm temperature during the process of introducction of the seeds in the flask, can make harder to have a steril ambient?

Regards
