Default Fastest seed time...

Wow, I just removed a seed pod of a cross I made a month ago. On July 7, I crossed Proscyclia Green Hornet with Spathoglottis kimballiana var antiquensis. Today, I noticed that the pod had already matured, split in three places, and was already starting to dry. I'm positive it did not abort, but I've never heard of one maturing in a month. All the seed is nice and fluffy, and falling right out, mature as can be! I've noticed some really aggressive traits with this Spathoglottis, it has about 12 spikes that have bloomed costantly, for the last few months...and it just keeps growing new spikes! So, has anyone seen a seed mature this fast, or is this a "Super Spath"?

I had a Ludisia discolor split in about a month. I was thinking it was due to the terrestrial habit. You would need to do your thing pretty fast if you grow where it gets cold. If the foliage freezes back, it would need to disperse seed relatively quickly. Could be the same with this one since Spath is terrestrial. Just an anecdotal observation though.

My dad used to say about me, "Often wrong, but never in doubt."
