are there any books out there for home orchid flasking .

I am hoping to start flasking in the next month or so myself. I will be doing it in my home and have found lots of great resources on the internet (GOOGLE is an invaulable resource ). The Orchid Seed Project (OSP) is just one of many great resources out there. Aarron also has a number of books available including "Asymbiotic Technique of Orchid Seed Germination" which is the only book on flasking I own.

I'm planning to try my hand at home flasking too. And choose to go with the home made stuff. I want to try it the least expensive way before i go out and buy a lot of stuff and than it don't agree with me . I bought Holcoglossum amesianum, Seidenfadetia mitrata & Vanda teres seeds on ebay and expect them to arrive next 2 weeks. I would like to know what you guys are planning on germinating, and which method your going with.

There are several books out there that provide good resource information on flasking at home.

The one mentioned above by Aaron Hicks is a great one. Another one that has useful information is called Home Orchid Growing, by Rebecca T. Northern.

Another useful book for reference is called Orchids from Seed for Pennies in the Kitchen by C. D Moulton.

Plus there are mountains of data and research papers available on the web for home made flask media and flasking case designs.

I have several books and in my opinion the best one for beginners is " Growing Orchids from Seed " by Philip Seaton and Margaret Ramsay. The book was printed by The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Easy to understand information and lots of good illustrations and photos. I believe the book is out of print, but it is readily available. I paid about $40.00 and it is worth every penny.
