Great to hear.. ( BTW in Canada we use metric I do understand cm ) I am still waiting for some good roots, it looks like some are now growing , just 2 little goose bumps. I will have more trouble with the 2 plans growing on the mother plant itself. Again no roots there.

her is a picture of the baby, small roots are growing. The same plant has a keiki lower above a leaf and one lower on the stem where there are no more leafs..

OK I am trying to add a picture, maybe in my album.
that is where you can find them...

I now have to add a new development..

On one of the keikis I have a spike going... picture will be posted soon... need a good macro lens now to show the whole plant... it is getting a real complicated mother

I think the main plant also is starting a spike... will show it all soon in pictures...

The spike on the keiki, well did not go well... each flower bud went yellow before blooming. Not really a big surprise to me... the main plant had to feed via the old spike 2 keikis and then also support a spike. so that was that.
The keikis roots had grown a lot , so yesterday I did it !! cut 4 keikis from the mother plant and gave them their own home... now hope everybody is happy ... will let you know
and a happy growing year to all !! peter

Question Keikis

I too have had good luck with some of my orchids , as i have had three of them produce keikis. I usually wait until the roots are about 11/2 - 2in before separating them from the mother plant . I have one keiki that is still on the mother plant that has not made roots yet , so have to wait a little while longer . I think it is rather exciting when they do make the keikis , but it doesn't always happen to all of them .

I want to know if anyone has tried to wrap one of the nodes on the flower spike with moist spaghnum to eventually coax a keiki to grow . Have not tried this method . Has anyone tried it and if you did , does it work?

Looks like all plants are doing well.
all the leaves are staying nice and firm, can not see what is happening with roots, but all looks good
