Hi Linda,
I'm not sure about your particular plant, but I have a P. Doritis Champorensis and I was told to grow it exactly as I would a phal. Same watering, same light. Hope this helps. Send us pictures of your little guy! We love pics.

Linda,

It's pretty straight forward, same culture as any phal. It does like good lighting and a nice moist mixture. Allow for some dry-out, but not bone dry for periods of time.
It's a great phal to grow, very interesting basal growths always seem to pop up. Fun plant for sure.

I keep mine under T-8 lighting - potted in peatmoss, bark & perlite mix.

Hi Linda
The Doritis pulcherrima "selby" is most likely the clonal name given to a particular plant that may have originated from "Marie Selby Gardens" or whatever. The D.pulcherrima Chumpornensis that Kiki do has originates from the provence of Chumporn which is on the Thai.peninsular - east coast side of Thailand
Can you tell me what part of the US you are from ?. If you are from around the Sthn states ie florida you may very well get away with growing it outdoors. If so I would be using a course mix & not use peatmoss for it. These mixes may be ok if grown under lights but not for outdoors. I have seen D.pulcherrima growing on 2 locations. The first was on a boulder with no leaves but a lot of roots growing out from a central point - only way I knew what it was is that it was in flower. The 2nd was on an island & was growing in straight sand in bright conditions. Sadly the island was in the path of the tsunami that struck Thailand & Indonesia a few yrs back

Hi Linda
Have just had a look at the 18 pics & listed what I think they are. Plus an explanation on NOID's for you.
Seeing as thiugh you live in Florida why dont you try to put the Doritis in a basket with course bark & allow the roots to have access to natural airflow. You may want to ask some commercial growers in Florida how they cultivate Doritis as well - you may be able to grow it outside

Kiki, Thanks for the advice--I just came home with my first Doritis pulcherrima and now I know exactly how to treat her. The vast majority of my collection is phals, but I'm running out of room and the size was a definite plus. Thanks again
