I really wasn't reprimanding anyone, and I surely did not intend on being rude. I was just making a joke (see the LOL and 'Just kidding' in the above post).

I made this first innuendo, so I apologize. Craig, I just think yours was just a little less veiled than mine so it came off as a little more blunt.

Don't sweat it guys! Let's just keep having fun around here and exchanging good info (I'll try to keep the comments restricted to orchids:blushing:).

:hello Craig! How are your compots doing? My Phal Amabilis is doing great! The Phal. Stuartiana is struggling a bit. One seedling has a yellowing root so I'm keeping a close eye on it. I still follow my regime of watering them when they're almost dry, which is 1-2 times a week, with a weak mix of Dyna-Grow Liquid Orchid-Pro Plant Food (7-8-6) and K-L-N Rooting Solution. I do the same for both compots early in the morning (around 6am, sometimes earlier).

Hey adlemsi,

Glad to hear they're doing well! Don't be too worried about loosing a root here and there. The difference in media takes some time to get used to. Just like switching an adult plant from all shpag to bark mix. A few roots that were accustomed to the old environment may not make it, but the new roots will be tailored to the new media. As long as they start putting on new roots too, don't sweat it. What ever you're doing, keep it up. They sound happy :)

I still haven't switched them. They are still in their original containers. I think I'm going to wait a couple of months before I move them, most likely when they look ready to be separated. I already have all the supplies to make the complete s/h transfer once they're ready.

For now I have tucked the weak root of the Stuartiana deeper in the moss.

:_( Well I lost the Stuartiana seedling with the weak root. I also found a decaying leaf (mold?) on one of the Amabilis seedlings. Some of the roots are turning black but are still plump. I had them in a glass jar to keep the humidity a bit higher for the seedlings, but I would remove the cover for 2-3 hours daily to let them air out. Any suggestions on what I should do? Tomorrow morning I will soak both compots in Physan 20.

In nature, only the strongest of orchid seedlings survive. In culture, germination rate is way higher. It logically follows, that the difference is the 'weaker' or less strong seedlings.

My point is, some are just not meant to make it. In sterile conditions we can force them to limp along, but some runts will never perform like the strong picks-of-the-litter. Don't stress over it too much as long as the majority are happy.;)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm just worried the rest will follow

:scratchhead: OMG what happened ????????? I just spent part of last night, and this morning reading this thread with all of it's great characters and drama. I feel like I was reading a novel. But then almost at the end it turned into dead space and I don't know what happened. Did the guy heal up ?Did he sell the Harley? Did the Compots make it ? No :photo: and no finish:_(

 Too funny, Phrogz.
