Help needed identifying keikis on orchid

Hi everyone,

I’m really new to orchids. I have this one- hopefully pictures will upload fine because I can’t explain it very well. It has a long empty stock that looks dead and on the other stocks (“branches”) leaves and kinkies are appearing (I’m sure I’m saying it wrong?) I see roots coming out of this new leaves, hence me thinking it’s propagating itself. There are at least 3.

What shall I do? Let them grow larger or removed them and replant them now even though they are tiny…

Thanks in advance . It was a present from my coworkers and it was gorgeous the first two years.

howdy! so we don't grow these types (looks like a dendrobium type orchid of some kind), just looking at the size you would want to wait until they are bigger and the roots are longer. so, we would say, leave them for now.

other folks who actually grow these types will surely chime in. good luck with your orchids!

oh, and btw, it is keiki (pronounced cake-ee)...

maybe you have kinky keikis? sounds raunchy

I vote for “grow larger.” If you remove them now they might not survive, but leaving them in place will not hurt a healthy plant any they may even flower if your dendrobium flowers.

Those are Dendrobium keikis, let them grow bigger for a while then remove from the mother and pot them individually

Dendrobium. Leave the long dead looking "stalk" (cane). It provides stored nutrients to assist the other canes' growth. Don't remove until it's dried completely up. Don't try to remove the keikis until bigger and longer roots, or if you have decent humidity you don't need to remove.
