Hello. I read that the inoculated flasks should be put under a plant light even before germination of the seeds. How does that light help germination when it is my understanding that light is used by chlorophyll for photosynthesis. No chlorophyll before germination so why the light?? Thank you for your answers.
Some seeds require light for germination to occur, including many terrestrial plants. I’ve never looked it up to see if orchid seeds require light, but I would guess that they do since they’re epiphytes. If instructions say to provide light, do it.
