Excuse me for not going back and reading the whole thread, but what are you planning to do with these little cuties?

Dorchid 07-01-2024 09:44 PM

Learning the trade atm and planning to start a flasking business. Sending plants back to those who have contributed seed, maybe sell those I’ve made.

I will keep you in mind. I have a plan for a future cross. It'll be awhile.

Keep me posted, Dusty!

Running some comparisons between the phytotech replate with banana powder against a modified MS basal medium with banana purée. I’ll have a better sense of the differences in performance in a couple months but so far the test medium is killing it…tons of root growth and new leaves on most after only 2 weeks.

These are looking amazing, Dorchid! I have some breeding plans of my own and no flasking skills; good to know we have a friend in CO doing orchid flasking!

Premature deflasking due to a contam…bummer as this was a great flask. These were sown just over a year ago and probably need about 6 more months but look good nonetheless.

Inobulbum munificum…these have been slow going and ended up getting a contam in their flask. They have weird brittle-ish roots. Hopefully a couple will make it through.

C. aurantiaca

Roberta - Thank you so much for your generosity! The seed capsules you provided have been invaluable and I have learned so much from working with their seed! I’ll be sending you a couple flasks of the C. aurantiaca as soon as it cools down here, probably closer to October/November. Hopefully, some of the Inobulbum will be ready at that time as well!

Roberta 08-22-2024 05:08 PM

Thanks! Here's hoping the Inobulbon munificum makes it! If it's sparse, hang on to them and grow them out... my batting average on flasks isn't great, and I also don't have much space at any rate. Guess the C. aurantiaca is prolific!
(It seems to love to self-pollinate) Enjoy!
