You can sow in petri dishes, they make great mother "flasks". It gives you a good surface area to work with and the protocroms need to be replated a few weeks after germination anyway. Then they can go into jars into replate media to start forming roots and have space to grow.

I have used some of the Phoytec mediums and did some others as well, just to see what would happen.
Funny enough they have all taken and some with a surprise, I only used the fertalizer called Peters P and Peters PH8 , 7grams agar, 20grams sugar.
Have done some in just straight agar and sugar only turned out to be behind in germination by about 3 weeks
I have to say when you do 90 mother flask you do tend to experiment a little.
As for replates i have my own mix made from a number of years of experiment.
